  1. Do you have to be a Canadian citizen to nominate someone?
    No. The nominee must be a Canadian citizen but can be nominated by anyone.
  2. Do you have to be a Canadian citizen to become a laureate?
    Typically, laureates are Canadian citizens. If a nominee is not a Canadian citizen, a major part of the achievement for which they are being nominated must have been developed during a period of residence in Canada.
  3. Are six people always inducted?
    No. The Selection Committee has the option of selecting up to six people per induction.
  4. Do you consider candidates posthumously?
    Yes. However, there must always be three living inductees for each induction.
  5. Who selects the inductees?
    Inductees are selected by a committee of prominent health and medical professionals from across Canada. The committee acts at arm's length from the CMHF Board of Directors.
  6. Are CMHF Board members or Selection Committee members allowed to make a nomination or be nominated for induction?
    No, members of the CMHF Board of Directors or members of the Selection Committee may not nominate or sponsor nominations, and cannot be selected while serving on the CMHF Board or Selection Committee.
  7. How will I know if my nomination has been successful?
    Within two weeks of the Selection Committee meeting, the CMHF notifies all nominators of the outcome of their nomination either by mail or email.
  8. Do I have to re-submit my nomination if I would like my candidate to be reconsidered for the future inductions?
    All nominations remain active and eligible for three consecutive inductions. Following that period, nominations must be re-submitted for consideration.
  9. Are nominations confidential?
    Yes. All nominations are confidential.
