Noble in all he did - thoughtful, caring and humble

Dr. John Evans
October 1, 1929 - February 13, 2015

The contributions of this Canadian medical hero who championed patient-focussed education will endure nationally and globally. We mourn this loss but revel in a life well lived. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, six children, friends and family. Read Dr. Evans’ online obituary and view his tribute video and biosketch from our 2000 Induction Ceremony.

"He is a person of enormous energy who doesn’t particularly respond well to leisure; he likes to be engaged with issues in the world and that has led to an amazing list of accomplishments."
- Dr. George Connell, Past President, Western University

“… I was trying to foster evidenced-based medicine, work that was introduced by David Sackett, that has now spread from McMaster University around the world as a very important discipline.  I had the privilege of being associated with a very vibrant group of young people who didn’t know you couldn’t achieve everything.”
