The CMHF perceives health leadership to be inclusive of many professions and roles including doctors, researchers, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, policy makers - to name only a few. Nominations of Canadians, living or posthumous, who meet the criteria from the many aspects of health are encouraged.

Filled with boundless curiosity and unwavering determination, Dr. Brenda Milner’s aptitude for discovery has made her a champion of unlocking the mysteries of the human brain. Her unbridled enthusiasm for scientific inquiry inspired significant interest in human memory, as well as established an important foundation for the field of cognitive neuroscience.

A pioneering clinician and distinguished medical researcher

A pioneering neurosurgeon and technological visionary

Dr. William Feindel had a brilliant career in neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute, University Hospital in Saskatoon and at McGill University. His research focused on the application of the successive new scanning methods that were becoming available for imaging the human brain: Computer Aided Tomography (CAT); Positron Emission Tomography (PET); Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
